At Erie West Hospice, we serve our patients in many settings, your home or long term facilities like a nursing home or assisted living facility.

Hospice care is for the last stage of life, not just for people on the verge of death. To be eligible for hospice services you must have a prognosis of six months or less to live. Making the decision to elect Erie West Hospice early, allows more time for you to benefit from all of the services available.

Hospice isn't just about dying; it is about choosing the quality of your life in your final days, weeks or months.

Hospice care is a special way of caring for a patient who’s faced with a terminal illness. It is available as a benefit under Medicare Hospital Insurance (Part A). Medicare beneficiaries who choose hospice care receive non-curative medical and support services for their terminal illness. The costs of Lucas County hospice care are minimal. Hospice care is available for individuals who live in Medicaid-reimbursed nursing facilities. Under these circumstances, Medicare Part A will pay the hospice program for the palliative care. The Ohio state Medicaid agency will pay the hospice program a daily rate for the hospice patient’s room and board; the hospice program must then reimburse the nursing facility for the room and board.
We bring our care to Lucas County. Erie West Hospice and Palliative Care believes that it is your choice, your decision, your life.
